The “Diamond” Collection For EleVen By Venus Williams Is All About Bold Prints And Comfort

Over the last few years, quite a few celebrities have entered the fitness apparel game, collaborating with prominent athletic-wear brands or even starting their own workout gear lines. But Venus Williams has been trying to improve the offerings when it comes to clothing for active women for quite some time.

She started working on EleVen by Venus Williams in 2007 and the line made its debut in 2012. Since then, she’s had a lot of success, rolling out new and fresh designs that she puts together every season (with the help of degrees in fashion design and business administration) and wears on the tennis court. Her newest addition to Eleven is the Diamond collection, which she wanted to be bold both in print and design.

“I wanted to create a line that felt fun and bold and unlike anything else out there in fitness gear,” Williams told Self.com about the inspiration behind the collection. The color scheme is very much blue, white and black. And Williams said it’s the colors and prints that are the most difficult to come up with when she’s drawing.

“First I sit down and sketch all the designs I want to make come to life,” she said. “‘Would I wear it? Is it an EleVen?'”

“The hardest part of creating each collection is figuring out what the patterns and colors are going to be,” she added. “I feel like we’ve used all of them, so we’re always on the hunt for another color in the rainbow!”

But more than anything, with every collection, Williams said physical comfort and ease in her pieces is the most important thing.

“When you’re wearing something, it needs to perform and be comfortable so that your clothing doesn’t distract you from your workouts.”
