You Are Not Alone: Stars Who Admit They Can’t Cook

You read so much about all of the celebrities these days who can cook. They have cookbooks, they have shows, they have blogs with recipes. But what about the stars who can't? There are plenty of people out in the world who can barely boil an egg, and some of those people are stars. Can you blame them if they don't care? They can hire all the personal chefs in the world to throw down in the kitchen while they sit down and wait on their meals. Check out 10 stars who admit that cooking, out of everything else they can do well, is not their strong suit.

Jada Pinkett Smith

While she can bake a mean 7-Up cake, Jada admits cooking isn't her thing. "I can't cook!" she told Shape. "It's genetic. My grandmother can't cook, my mother can't cook. I was raised to believe you eat because your body needs fuel for energy, so I eat superfoods."

Beyoncé

When she still giving interviews, Bey told the New York Times, "I don't really cook, but I'm a really good taste tester." Mother Tina Knowles-Lawson confirmed that her daughter doesn't currently have skills in the kitchen but could if she tried. "Cooking is the one thing she hasn’t gotten into," she said. "She hasn’t mastered [it], but I’m sure she’ll be a good cook once she makes up her mind."  

Tyra Banks

Banks never cared much about cooking, but when her son was born, she decided to change that and even enrolled in classes at the Culinary Institute of America. "I have never been one to be very excited about cooking," she wrote on Facebook last year. "I put all of my energy into my work and to succeeding, so instead of cooking, I eat at restaurants all the time, order in, or defrost frozen food in my microwave. That all changed the day my son was born." "I want to be his chef," she added. "I want him to go to college and miss his MOMMY’S masterpieces. I want all of his friends to be fighting to come to his house to sample his mother’s culinary creations."

Ashley Graham

The supermodel can serve face, but she admits in her new book, A New Model: What Confidence, Beauty & Power Really Look Like, that she can't serve food and prefers Seamless food ordering. She also said the only meal she can cook is this:

It's common knowledge on Basketball Wives LA that Jackie Christie can't cook, and maybe that's because she doesn't really have to. As she told ESPN in 2011, "Doug cooks, he does everything; he's Mr. Mom."

Prinyaka Chopra

The beauty told Rachel Ray the one thing she's not good at: "I can't cook. I can eat!"

Eva Mendes

The actress and mom admitted years ago that she can't cook, but wants to. "I open the fridge and don't know how to get from point A to point B," she told Bang! Showbiz. "I do want to start because I feel really pathetic - at a certain age you've got to learn how to provide for yourself."

Penelope Cruz

Cruz told Collider that she took lessons to step up her culinary skills:

I can cook a little bit. I can cook a few Spanish dishes. But, in movies, it looks like I cook much better than I cook. I am not the most organized person in the kitchen, but I took a lot of lessons. I played a Brazilian chef once, and then, in Volver, I played somebody who owns a restaurant. I really had to know how to cook, so I took lessons, both times. But, my lessons were more to be the assistant of a chef, so I could learn to cut the vegetables very fast. I can do all of those things really well, but I’m not that good at cooking.

Sofia Vergara

Vergara has said that her son is the one who throws down in the kitchen. But she isn't interested in cooking. "I don't cook at all," she told ABC News. "I always have these Colombian things shipped to me, arepas. You can put anything on top of them -- cheese, meat, butter, salt. I always have them in my refrigerator and when I really want to feed myself I go for them."

Jennifer Lawrence

If you're waiting to see Jennifer Lawrence really cut a rug or put together a meal, those are two things she just can't do. "I'm such a bad dancer [laughs]," she told W magazine. "I don't have many talents: I'm not a good cook, I can't clean, and I can't sew."
