Gabrielle Union just recently released her first venture into beauty products on March 1 through her line, Flawless by Gabrielle Union. The hair collection includes everything from oil treatments, moisturizing shampoos and conditioners to edge control, blow dry cream, hair protection spray and more — all for textured hair. The prices are between $19 and $29 and the line is featured at Flawlesshair.com and will soon be at Ulta stores and Ulta.com.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Union talked about her own hair ups and downs that inspired the creation of a hair care line for textured hair.
“I went through a phase where I would leave my relaxer on so long, thinking the longer I leave this relaxer on, the straighter it’s going to be,” she said. “Cut to lesions, like open wounds in my scalp, trying to chase something that was unrealistic, and eventually probably in my mid- to late-20s I decided to give up my relaxer, and I went natural. By natural I mean underneath the weaves, extensions, clips and the hair color was my natural hair — thriving.”
But when you tell the world about your natural hair, chances are, folks are going to want to see it. And despite Union showcasing her healthy hair a few times in the past, it seems that people still wanted proof that her hair is natural since. It makes sense considering that she’s often seen with extensions and clips but selling a textured hair line. Union decided to display her mane to show what your natural hair can look like when you take good care of it underneath all of the accouterments:
She also showed her followers that she has worn her natural hair out, and in festive ways, on the red carpet before:
According to her, Union is just like the rest of us trying to get our hair right — and together. Not sure if her own products are behind the serious drapage you saw above, but you can now try the Flawless line for yourself and see if you have similar, healthy hair results.
