10 Black Stars Who Put The “Soul” In SoulCycle As Class Regulars

I knew that people enjoyed SoulCycle, but who knew so many celebrities loved it so much? From singers and actresses to media moguls and political royalty, more and more famous folks are dipping into SoulCycle sessions and spinning their way to tight and toned frames. And while people often run down the who's who list of White stars who are mainstays at SoulCycle (Kelly Ripa, Jonah Hill, Bradley Cooper, Khloe Kardashian, etc.), there are quite a few Black stars SoulCycle can't seem to get rid of. Here are 10 celebrities who put the "Soul" in SoulCycle as devoted class regulars.

Beyoncé

As we told you last week, the expecting singer has reportedly been taking part in multiple SoulCycle classes per week at the West Hollywood location. She does so without much fuss because she and husband Jay Z slip in after the lights have gone down and leave sessions early.

Kelly Rowland

Rowland can thank SoulCycle for helping her shed 70 pounds of pregnancy weight. She can also thank SoulCycle for helping her land a role on Empire...

Lee Daniels

That's right, Rowland met Lee Daniels in a SoulCycle class. He ended up offering her the role of Leah, Lucious Lyons' mom, after running into her at the studio. "Lee Daniels and I ran into each other at SoulCycle and he was screaming across the room, 'I know who you are! I know who you are!'" Rowland told Refinery29.com. "And I was like, 'Huh?' And so afterwards, he pulled me to the side and told me his incredible vision and I thought it was such a bold story to tell. I just wanted to tell it correctly and I followed his lead."

Michelle Obama

The former First Lady has been a SoulCycle fan for years, doing private sessions with White House staff and her daughters, Malia and Sasha. As of late though, Obama has been hitting SoulCycle classes in D.C. with the general public.

Oprah Winfrey

Winfrey is such a SoulCycle fan now that she not only celebrated her 60th birthday with a private class, but she also took popular instructor, Angela M. Davis, with her to teach 15-minute cardio classes during the epic The Life You Want tour.

Usher

The singer was one of the many celebrities spotted in one of those star-studded classes Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland took part in recently in West Hollywood. Not to mention that his music is often used in vs. playlist battles in SoulCycle classes.

Taraji P. Henson

One of the many ways Henson stays fit is to push it in SoulCycle classes. She likes to switch it up to force her body to adjust. "I try to train three to four days a week, at least," she told Essence. "I do a cardio bar class mixed with SoulCycle, then I’ll mix it up and work with a trainer. Sometimes I’ll take a pole-dancing class just to switch it up and keep my body guessing."

Tia Mowry

Mowry is a fan of SoulCycle, but she's no longer a fan of a fellow celebrity class participant: Charlize Theron. "She wasn’t very nice to me," Mowry told InTouch Weekly. "I said 'Hi,' and she actually rolled her eyes and said, 'Oh my God.'" She continued, "I wasn’t over-the-top. I know how to approach another celebrity. Charlize was just mean. I’m just being honest."

Kerry Washington

The Scandal star has tweeted quite a few times about her class experiences with trainer Angela M. Davis. As she put it last year:

LaLa Anthony

Considering that she's close friends with Kelly Rowland, it makes sense that LaLa Anthony would love her some SoulCycle too.
