There were a few people who didn’t care for the way Rep. Maxine Waters went about expressing her dislike and distrust of Donald Trump. They thought by not attending his inauguration, she was being too stubborn, too outspoken, too uncompromising.
But perhaps her assertion that the FBI director had “no credibility” shook some things up. Not only that, in late-January, early February, we reported that Waters told Teen Vogue, that she had introduced a bill that would demand an investigation into Trump, his cabinet and their ties to Russia. In the press conference annoucing the bill, Waters said:
“In just under two weeks, Donald Trump has unnerved our allies, challenged our values, and brought so much instability and chaos to our country. This chaos is sure to please at least one person- Vladimir Putin.”
And today, it looks like someone heard her cry.
Because James B. Comey, the FBI director, announced that he would be investigating the Trump campaign and administration and their ties to Russia to see if there was any interference in the 2016 election.
In his opening statement at the hearing before the House Intelligence Committee, Comey said:
“I have been authorized by the Department of Justice to confirm that the FBI, as part of our counterintelligence mission, is investigating the Russian government’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. And that includes investigating the nature of any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government and whether there was any coordination between the campaign and Russia’s efforts. As with any counterintelligence investigation, this will also include an assessment of whether any crimes were committed. Because it is an open, ongoing investigation and is classified, I cannot say more about what we are doing and whose conduct we are examining.”
And if that weren’t enough, Comey also spoke on Trump’s claims that President Obama had wiretapped his residence.
On March 4, Trump tweeted:
Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my “wires tapped” in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!

Comey stated that he had no information to support the claim.
As you might have guessed, Trump has already tweeted his response.

Well, alright.
This isn’t exactly an impeachment but this is certainly a step in the right direction. And when this moment is recorded in our history books, as it no doubt will be, regardless of the outcome of this investigation, I want Waters’ name to be included.
