Fat is a word no one likes to hear used in reference to their body, but there are such things as good fats and avocado is full of them. And while we suggest you find ways to incorporate more of the fruit into your diet for its heart-healthy properties as well as its high potassium, fiber, and antioxidant qualities, you don’t have to go ham on the guacamole to reap avocado’s benefits on your hair.

Avocado’s high monounsaturated fatty acid content makes it a great moisturizing nutrient, as it penetrates the hair shaft more easily. And you’ll appreciate that in oil form the fruit isn’t heavy or greasy like castor oils and some of the other options we typically turn to. But since most of us don’t have time to whip up a fresh DIY avocado mask all the time, we’re grateful there are many over-the-counter options to choose from so to speak. Check out these products infused with avocado to keep your hair shiny and hydrated from the pre-poo to seal phase.
