Towards the beginning of this year, we reported about a Bobbi Kristina biopic was in the works. As with most biopics, there were skeptics, myself being one of them. Then we learned that singer and former Atlanta Housewife Demetria McKinney was set to play Whitney and Vivica Fox, Pat Houston.
Demetria had heard of the backlash and responded with an Instagram post about folks reserving judgment until they see what the project is going to be. She later deleted it.
And while Demetria’s post kind of skirted around the possibility of the biopic, the cat is all the way out of the bag now. Not only has Tv One included the project in their upfronts for the year, a recent image from shooting surfaced on the internet and it has people reserving bits of their judgment.
When I scrolled past this image last night, I legitimately thought it was the Houston’s from back in the day and wondered why this picture had resurfaced after all these years. It wasn’t until I looked closer and realized ‘Oh shoot, that’s not them!’
So major props to the casting crew because this is spot on. And, I must admit, even releasing the image for the world to see was a pretty smart move. Where there was once doubt, there is now curiosity.
