You don’t really think of celebrities also being chefs and owning restaurants, but that’s another way they build their wealth. Madame Noire pulled together a list of foodie stars who are making moves in the food industry. Let’s take some cues from these celebrities that know how to dominate in both industries.
LL Cool J
While continuing his rap journey in the mid-80’s, James Todd Smith decided to start acting. Starting off with Krush Groove playing himself to the football classic, Wildcats, he went on to star in numerous TV shows and movies. He even starred in a sitcom In The House that lasted 5 years and was a hit. Most recently, you can see him as Sam Hannah on NCIS: Los Angeles
Tupac
Known by some as one of the greatest rappers of all time, Tupac Shakur was a triple threat. He could rap, act, and dance. Usually playing the bad guy, his character Bishop in Juice started off his acting career. Moving on to the classic Poetic Justice, Bullet and more, he was headed on his way to be a major Hollywood star before passing away in 1996.
Yasiin Bey
You may know him as the rapper Mos Def, but Yasiin Bey has over 45 acting credits. From playing Chuck Berry in Cadillac Records to playing Gangstalicious on The Boondocks, he has acting range. A little known fact, Yasiin has been acting since the late 80’s so this was nothing new to him.
Ice-T
Ice-T was one of the original “gangsta rappers”. You would never think he would transition from rapper to playing one of the longest characters in the history of Law & Order. We can’t forget his iconic role in New Jack City. With over 80 acting credits, we think Ice-T made the ultimate transition to acting. He even starred in his own reality show with his wife Coco.
Drake
Drake did the opposite. He went from actor to rapper. Starring in popular Canadian show Degrassi as a young teen, he is now one of the most popular rappers in the country. He still puts on his acting hat from time to time. We hope to see him get back on the screen soon.
